The hike to Red Hill from Shell Beach is my favorite Sonoma County hike, with spectacular views of the ocean and Russian River. Including the Pomo Canyon trail turns it into a loop with thimbleberry patches (ripe now), enchanted stands of Redwood and Douglas Fir (secrets be there) and views of the Willow Creek Valley and Islands in the Sky Ridge. Almost a 1000' ascent from the Shell Beach parking lot.Quote:
