Hey, Computer Wizards;
I've been using a MacBook hooked up to a larger monitor. The toolbar at the very top of my screen includes a picture of a battery with a percentage number next to it indicating how much charge is in the battery (usually 100% or nearly so). A couple of days ago, the percent number was replaced with a "(Not Charging)" message. Should I be alarmed? What should I do?
Thanks in advance for any answers.
Anytime that's happened to me, either the charger cord is starting to get a little short that is fixed by wiggling near the end of the cord and/or bending, or the connection on the macbook is cutting out also fixed by wiggling. I assume wiggling either thing only works until totally broken which hasn't happened to me yet thru many wigglings.Quote:

Just my 2 cents.
My computer isn't hooked up to a charger per se; it automatically recharges just by virtue of being plugged into a wall outlet (I use Sonic Fusion phone/computer service).Quote:

If your computer is not charging, the battery will eventually be drained and your machine will not work. I had this problem with my iBook several years ago, when the port (where the power cord plugs in) became damaged. Derrick, the wonderful Mac tech at the Computer Recycling Center (CRC) on Santa Rosa Ave. in SR diagnosed and repaired the issue for a very nominal fee. CRC is also a super place to get that new (refurbished) mouse you posted about. Or even a new/used Mac if it's time for one.

First thing to do: Check connections, making sure nothing has wriggled loose. Second thing: Restart--this solves almost all problems. Third: After completing first and second suggestions to no avail, turn everything off and do something else for a while. Try again. Problem might be solved.
If it isn't, you can always call MacAdvantage. They will diagnose, sometimes over the phone, for no charge. Awesome company, based in south Rohnert Park, near SSU.
My MacAir does this now and then and it's always because the power cord has been knocked crooked without my noticing.
