I've never seen starlings in such numbers. But some years ago, there was a veritable plague of them in Santa Rosa; and thousands roosted in the tall oaks atop the "Moving Mountain" east of the County complex. Neighbors saw a lesser version of the murmurations shown here, as the birds rose out of the trees in the morning, and came in to roost at night.
The downside was they made a great deal of noise, and their droppings were everywhere. My mother developed pericarditis, and the doctor said the droppings might have been the source of the infection.
