Wast Not, Want Not - Building Soil & Community Through Composting!

Did you know that Sonoma County produces over 100,000 tons of organic matter annually? With the closure of Sonoma Compost, this valuable resource is being hauled out of the county... but there are actions we all can engage in to keep compost local, utilizing it to regenerate our soil and improve our crop yields.

Join Daily Acts, Ellen Hopkins, and Jennifer Roberts for an insightful presentation and conversation around efficient composting techniques. These two women have a wide array of experience and will educate participants about residential and community scale composting. Following the presentation we will get our hands dirty as we visit the campus garden, and contribute to their composting program.

Jennifer, Master Composter & Master Gardener, will discuss benefits of composting, building a pile, vermiculture and all of the inputs and maintenance that follows with composting in your own residence.

Ellen, of Eco Heart Landscapes, will be covering how individuals can leverage composting opportunities at schools, and how we can incorporate different restaurants and business' to get involved with the composting community.

By attending this workshop, and registering your composting actions for our Community Resilience Challenge, you will be entered to win a pre-made vermiculture bin!
