On May 10, the UK Government announced that ‘smart’ meter installations throughout the country will be delayed by more than a year due to serious health and medical concerns. This news has been completely censored by US news media outlets. Normally, anything coming out of the UK is trumpeted all over the US news media especially NPR…but not this time.
Italy has completely banned wireless so-called ‘smart’ meters entirely. Also censored from the US news media.

On May 10, the UK Government announced that ‘smart’ meter installations throughout the country will be delayed by more than a year due to serious health and medical concerns.
Or, to quote a lame-stream media source:
The delay reflects difficulties in coordinating the rollout as there are a variety of standards and features attached to the meters and little agreement on the technology. There are also differing opinions on how the meters should be paid for.

True, if you google for it the advocacy sites dominate the hits, but if you poke around to see how it was received in the actual UK, there's not too much panic. Almost all the advocacy sites seem to be U.S. oriented, although I was able to find a few UK ones. The claims of censorship seem to be made without evidence by people who assume this is such a big story that only active censorship would keep it from heading the international news. I know we do normally get great coverage of British economic and energy policies (anyone know what British agency regulates their energy sector??) but in this case, I think our media has let our news-thirsty public down.

The introduction of energy smart meters in 30 million UK homes will be delayed for more than a year, the government has announced.
The £11.7bn project will start in the autumn of 2015, rather than the summer of next year, the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) said.
It said that the industry needed more time to design, build and test the communications system required.
The devices show exactly how much gas and electricity is being used.
This should bring an end to estimated bills, because the technology could send back an accurate meter reading to an energy company every day.
According to the industry, the technological advance would be the equivalent of using wireless broadband instead of sending a telegram.
Preparation The project is considered vital in attempts to cut energy use by households as the UK faces having to import more energy in the future.
The smart meter rollout has been criticised in the past, but the then energy minister, Charles Hendry, said last January: "The last thing we need is more dither and delay."

With energy prices one of the top financial concerns for consumers, the government must also make sure the £11bn cost does not spiral out of control”
Richard Lloyd Executive director, Which?
Now, the programme to install these meters into every UK home is expected to be finished by 2020, also a year later than planned.
Ann Robinson, of price comparison website Uswitch.com, said she was disappointed because smart meters would have "huge benefits", but added that it was "more important to get it right so that it works for consumers".
Angela Knight, chief executive of Energy UK, which represents the major energy companies, said: "We welcome the government's prudent decision to allow an additional 12 months to complete the smart meter programme. This recognises the scale of the programme and the need to prepare carefully."
She said the installation of meters was a complex task and the delay allowed this to take place "in a more efficient and cost-effective manner, and to greater effect".

and as for Italy, this from Reuters (another organization in the conspiracy)
=======================
BOLOGNA, Italy, May 30 (Reuters) - European utilities are taking a cue from Italian state-controlled power provider Enel , the pioneer of digital electricity metering which has driven installation levels to more than 90 percent in Italian households.
The smart meters allow utilities to collect real-time data on customer consumption and manage networks remotely, eliminating the need to send out costly technicians and visits by meter readers.
France plans to deploy 35 million by 2020, Spain 13 million by 2018, while the UK will kick-start efforts in 2015 to cover 30 million properties over five years.
A report by Berg Insight estimates around 15.8 billion euros will be invested to install 110 million smart meters in Europe by 2017, a potential boon for meter makers like Switzerland's Toshiba-owned Landis+Gyr - Europe's market leader - and Itron and Echelon of the United States

Maybe they "censored" it because their is virtually nothing confirming it, or maybe it's completely false. I already understand that true-believers are not rational about this, but here is just a tiny amount of verification:
I watched the video (nothing said about a ban at all) and spent 2 minutes on Google to get the parliamentary report updated June 20, 2013 (you can find it here: https://www.parliament.uk/briefing-papers/SN06179.pdf ) which says (in its conclusions):
In August 2012 the HPA published an information sheet stating that: 54
• The evidence to date suggests exposures to the radio waves produced by smart meters do not pose a risk to health.
• Assessments made in other countries that use smart meters have found exposures that are low in relation to internationally agreed guidelines.
• HPA will be carrying out research to assess exposures from the devices as the technology is rolled out.
Then again: I found this link which purports that this is all a hoax: https://the-tap.blogspot.com/2013/06/uk-delays-all-smart-meter-installations.html
and this reuters link( https://www.reuters.com/article/2013/05/30/energy-efficiency-smartmeters-italy-idUSL5N0EA3HL20130530 ) that says:
Europe to follow Italy's lead on smart meters
Thu May 30, 2013 8:42am EDT
* Pioneer Italy (https://www.reuters.com/places/italy) has smart meters in 90 pct of homes
* Two-way meters cut reading cost, give real-time usage data
* EU utilities to spend 15.8 bln to install 110 million meters
* Boost for meter makers Landis+Gyr, Itron, Echelo
and finally, not for nothing (and maybe this is guilt by association) the original "Link" had these as its tags:

The problem with quoting from a blog that purports to "give counterbalance to the disinformation of the mass media about UFO and ET existence as well the disclosure of the now still classified and denied information about ET*and UFO contact with the governments" is that they rarely have any basis in reality or fact.
A simple check of bbc news and guardian uk web sites would have resulted in the wisdom of knowing that the UK is not delaying them for health reasons but to standardize the technology and more efficiently communicate. No where in either article I read did it mention anything about health concerns nor quote anyone saying any such thing. Shame on you.

My purpose of posting this article was to show that something had occurred, and whether you and the rest agree or not on the reasons for stopping smartmeters, it's been stopped. For this, I have gratitude. I have dear friends living in UK to verify and a daughter living in Italy. And this board has discussed over the years about smartmeters, and there is plenty, PLENTY, of scientific evidence of their dangers and the harm it's done to many people. You want to trust PG& E and other Big Corp. Utility propaganda, go for it. You think the Public Utility commission has our best interest at heart, go for it. I'm not going to reiterate about smartmeters as it's in the archives, and will let you all enjoy yourselves if you choose further discussion. I won't be joining.

As in the U.S., they're not universally deployed. Some remote areas have yet to receive them. Some utility companies are ahead of others in terms of their installation.
