Honey Bee and Pollinator Activists Wanted for Special Project

Europe just passed a pesticide ban protecting pollinators. Could California do the same? If you would like to be part of an exploratory group on this subject--let me know here, and we will talk. 1st meeting by the end of May.

A couple of us believe that a pesticide ban might be possible in California through the initiative process. We would need 504,000 signatures to get on the ballot. But--we obviously can't do it with just two of us. When I get around 10 interested parties I will call a meeting. I am also looking into the language of the European ban just passed last week. This is a big project, but it is also timely, necessary, and exciting! I will be keeping track of peeps who want to help and then will email an invitation to our first meeting.

Bees are essential for one out of three bites of food we eat. But last winter, beekeepers reported losses of 50-70 percent of their hives—the worst year yet since the global bee die-off began!

Rainforest Action Network (RAN) is a fantastic group that has successfully worked with Home Depot for sustainable wood products. Perhaps a connection with RAN would be a good way to approach Home Depot or to get some input on how to be successful with them.
