Dear Barry;
I have been looking for a web designer for my sister. I went into the business listings here and found listings of web designers in several places instead of all in the same place. This was really confusing and much harder than it would have been if they were all listed in the same place.
Maybe there are too many categories or maybe they are too general. Maybe there needs to be a specific place for the various types of business and it organized more simply. While I was in there I posted a business listing of my own but I could have put it in several places. My listing goes in a Counseling category. If I had found a Counseling category I would have put my listing there.
I hope that you find this feedback helpful.
I love what you have done here and I find it very useful and really great.
Thank you,

Thanks for your feedback, Pati.

Truth be told, I haven't really focused on the Business Directory just yet. I plan to get there later this year once I establish a fee for advertising a business. That will make it clearer to people what it is and promote careful use of it. I will be promoting it and tweaking it so that businesses can collect testimonials there.

I can see the problem with the categories in the Business Directory, however the solution isn't really clear. Once I focus on the Business Directory I will take a close look at how it is being used and what might work best. Whereas at first I thought broad categories might be best, I can see that very specific categories might be better. I also plan to break out the Business Directory onto its own page so there will be room for lots of categories.
Also once I start charging for advertising I will form an advertiser's counsel where I will discuss these types of issues and how it can work best for everybody.
