In the first known circumcision death in Northern California for 2013, 11-day-old baby boy Brayden F. died on 8 March 2013 from blood loss following non-therapeutic (i.e., cosmetic) circumcision surgery.
Here's the timeline of Brayden's short life as documented by his grandfather on his Facebook page:
25 Feb 2013: Brayden is born in Lodi, CA
5 March 2013: circumcision surgery performed by doctor in Lodi, CA
7(?) March 2013: Brayden transferred to UC Davis Medical Center when he did not stop bleeding and began having seizures
8 March 2013: Brayden dies
Apparently the baby had been ill and was having trouble clotting after needle sticks and such. For reasons that were not specified, the boy's pediatrician pushed to do the circumcision surgery anyway even though the baby was not medically stable. You can see for yourself the result of the doctor's and parents' poor judgement.
It has been estimated that 100-200 boys die each year from circumcision surgery each year, usually bleeding to death. (Source: Lost Boys: an estimate of U.S. circumcision-related infant deaths (https://www.readperiodicals.com/201004/2026622071.html) published 2010). The loss of 2-3 ounces of blood will kill an infant (see Death from Circumcision (https://www.drmomma.org/2010/05/death-from-circumcision.html) on the Peaceful Parenting web site).
The American for-profit medical industry has been killing boys by doing these unethical genital mutilation surgeries for over 100 years now. They have a lot of experience with covering up these deaths. Rarely is the death attributed to the circumcision; even more rarely is disciplinary or legal action taken against the doctor who did the surgery.
Usually the parents/families do not want to face the embarrassing reality that they made a bad decision resulting in the death of their son. Of course the hospitals, clinics, and doctors do not want these deaths publicized as that would hurt their racket. They hide behind what author-surgeon Paul Ruggieri (https://www.amazon.com/Confessions-Surgeon-Complicated-Life-Behind-Doors/dp/0425245152/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1364018191&sr=1-1&keywords=confessions+of+a+surgeon+by+paul+a.+ruggieri) calls the "White Coat Code of Silence." John Geisheker of Doctors Opposing Circumcision describes these cover-ups in a video available on YouTube: https://youtu.be/jaWiBzZYG9Y
Thanks to the Internet and social media these senseless, entirely preventable deaths are coming to light, and the White Coat Code of Silence is fraying. It is much like the images of civil rights marchers being attacked with dogs and fire hoses that turned Americans against segregation.
