As some of you may or may not know, I am the co-founder of LITE Initiatives and Community Bikes (www.liteinitiatives.org) (https://www.liteinitiatives.org%29/) . Through this non-profit group we encourage people to live more lightly on the Earth, including traveling by bicycle as an alternative to driving a car. I am a strong believer that bicycle riding is great for both the environment and for health. Personally, I love riding my bike.
So, I have chosen to join the passion I have for bike riding with my desire to contribute to the efforts to avert a severe climate crisis. May 19th to 23rd, I will be one of a hundred or more bike riders committing ourselves to riding 320 miles over 5 days from Eureka to San Francisco. Each of us bicyclists have taken on the responsibility to raise $2,400 for organizations that are working to turn the tide away from extreme climate destabilization.

A Global Movement to Solve the Climate Crisis" www.350.org (https://www.350.org). In my opinion, they are doing great work organizing a global campaign to put pressure on the oil and coal companies and on our government to move away from dependence on fossil fuels and towards renewable energy sources. I feel that this is an urgent effort, and that is why I am stretching myself to undertake this strenuous bike ride and to ask you for your financial contribution.
