What can the City of Sebastopol do more when helping the citizens be more frugal with use of groundwater and leave more water available to critters?

With the new City Council, is there an opening to identify and protect our aquifer recharge areas for sustainable water use into the 77th generation?

Regional Program Continues to Meet State's Water Conservation Goal

Six professional football stadium’s worth of turf was removed within the Sonoma County Water Agency’s service area last year, according to the Sonoma-Marin Saving Water Partnership’s recently released annual report. Last year (Fiscal Year 2011-12), the utilities invested more than $1.5 million combined to fund water use efficiency programs that resulted in the region continuing to meet the regional 20x2020 goal of 129 gallons per capita per day (GPCD) by achieving a 113 GPCD. The Partnership represents 10 water utilities in Sonoma and Marin counties who have joined together to provide regional solutions for water-use efficiency and meet the State of California’s goal of reducing per capita water use 20 percent by the year 2020 – also known as the SBx7-7 20x2020 goal. The utilities include the Cities of Santa Rosa, Rohnert Park, Petaluma, Sonoma, Cotati; North Marin, Valley of the Moon and Marin Municipal Water Districts; Town of Windsor and Sonoma County Water Agency.
