Body Free
by
Errol Strider
I squirm to feel within the withered me...
the stirring boxed-up feelings
that move me to gasp for buoyancy
to wake to the upthrust flow
not to be controlled by tight, binding fear--
but to stretch out into the free.
My soul writhes in pain-soaked hope
fumbling for an opening into the unstifled--
to toss off the heavy, tense, wrenching guilt choking me
wallowing me in shame...
to break loose and fly circles into bravo!
