The nation took two steps forward with the passage of health reform. But some lawmakers in Sacramento, getting ready for another budget fight, want to say "no" to tens of billions of dollars and health coverage for two million uninsured people.

A lot of working people in California still don't have health insurance. If you are one of them, or know someone in that situation, we need to hear from you.
Why? Because some California lawmakers are seriously considering a big step backward. These politicians want to "just say no" to health coverage options created by the national health reform law.
But that means nearly 2 million Californians won't get the newly available coverage, and local clinics and hospitals will continue to struggle to provide care to the uninsured. But statistics are impersonal. Let's show Sacramento who will lose out.
If you or someone you know doesn't have health insurance, tell us, and help put a face on such a decision! (https://cu.convio.net/site/R?i=dumY-dd-MgL2Wk_GPQKlbg)
Maybe you -- or your son or daughter -- work two part-time jobs. Maybe your employer doesn't provide health coverage to certain hourly wage workers. Maybe you were "retired" years before you could join Medicare. Maybe you make too much to qualify for any current state assistance, but not nearly enough to buy health insurance.
In 2014 you will have new options, unless your lawmakers take them away. The new federal health insurance law offers affordable coverage -- without pre-existing condition exclusions -- and Washington, D.C., is poised to send tens of billions to California to make that happen.
Hard working, responsible people should have access to health insurance, regardless of the state they live in. No one should go without needed health care just because they don't make a lot of money.
Some California lawmakers want to say "no," so we need to make this decision personal. Share your story! (https://cu.convio.net/site/R?i=k6KtKQaaw98aQZBe3Jos8A)
If you know a friend, co-worker or family member in California who doesn't get health coverage through their job, please forward this to them, too. Their story may be the one that turns the tide.
