This week I filled out and submitted to AARP along with a donation a PETITION to both candidates asking them to make their positions clearer on the future of Medicare and Social Security. I'm hopeful that in the debate in a week or so the candidates will each be asked a question that will force them to do just that.
To me, as a senior who has had a LOT of help, both individually and for my beloved wife of forty-four years, from Medicare in the last four years or so. We struggled when I was still working to get a low-priced medical insurance policy from Blue Cross which would have covered us if we'd had a serious accident or disease.
Without going into all the details I'd just like to say that without our Medicare coverage and the bills which have mostly been paid by it, my wife and I would probably be homeless and without a bank account.

The foreseeable future, with Romney-Ryan in the White House-looks like the end of Medicare and of Social Security for everyone. This crisis is so serious because without substantial help by both the next administration AND by Congress in the next ten years the Medicare trust fund will go broke. Once it does there is nothing that will bring it back.

This is why it is critical for all of us-regardless of whether we are in a Blue or Red state-to get out and vote FOR President Obama. He's our only hope at this point. Ryan-Romney want to gut Medicare and replace it with a $6,000 check for each senior with the chance of finding your own insurance company after that to cover you. GOOD LUCK WITH THAT, FOLKS! If you had a previous condition you'd be on your own for everything!
Six thousand dollars might get you a day or two in an acute care hospital. IF YOU HAD NOT ALREADY SPENT IT ON MEDICINES OR FOOD!

Finally, if it is possible for you financially to make a small donation to the Obama re-election campaign PLEASE do so NOW! We need to win this election for our children and grand children, our friends with less, and just to provide a glimmer of hope for the future for yours and mine WAY OF LIFE! Lets get out the vote!
