Who do you support and why?

I'm reluctantly supporting Feinstein. How about you?

I'm going to vote for Marsha Feinland, P&F, because there is no Green Party candidate. Besides, Feinstein, for all her financial and war mongering shenanigans, has a lock, her re-nomination and reelection are not really in doubt.

I don't believe in "wasted" or "thrown away" votes, but voting for her endorses the status quo, which is a sure thing anyway.

So by voting for an alternative party candidate, I, in my limited way, can express that at least a few people, aren't mesmerized by the conventional, "politics of pragmatism within the limits of political possibility", logic and show that we have hope for a political culture that includes alternative views and goals.

In other words, I choose to send a message with my vote, tiny as that message may be. Rather, than bow to the binary oppositional logic of the "Ball Game". Plenty of other people will do that, with predictable results, they don't need me in this particular instance.

Bear in mind, elections, especially as they are conducted in our, "winner take all", system, reflect the status quo political landscape. (Badly in my view, given the actual opinions that people demonstrate in poll after poll.) Only when sufficiently massive social movements change that landscape, do elections end up showing results that represent popular hopes and needs.

So, my first priority as a political activist, is what gets done in the streets. Occupy! Only then, and with structural reforms in our election laws (good luck with that, since the gatekeepers are the ones who benefit from the current set-up, and changes would threaten their lock on power) will elections bear results that actually are democratic. Rather than faux democracy.
