Call PG&E 1-866-743-0263 Before May 1st
Smart meters are costing us money, privacy, and our health and safety. Please support a community wide opt out, and protect our homes and neighborhoods. The City of Sebastopol requested a smart meter moratorium two years ago. The California Public Utilities Commission will evaluate a community wide opt-out option, and evaluate PG&E’s arbitrary, punitive, and likely illegal opt-out charges within a couple months.
Meanwhile, PG&E is threatening to install smart meters in Sebastopol on May 1, unless people call.
If you have analog meters: Tell PG&E you plan to keep them. If they ask you to agree to the charges, you can refuse. Tell them: “No, because the fees are arbitrary, punitive, and are legally contested at the CPUC.” Assert your rights! If they ask you about access to your property, tell them they need to make an appointment.
If you do agree to the fees and if they do charge you, write "paid under protest" on your check and keep a copy. OR don’t pay. Not paying is a form of protest that can help this cause. However, PG&E may turn off your utilities, or install a smart meter.
If you have smart meters, tell PG&E to remove them!* Neighbors meters: Talk to your neighbors about these choices.
*Did PG&E ask your permission to install a microwave device on your property? NO. Did they tell you that it transmits 2.5 watts/pulsed microwaves, over 10,000 pulses per day, per meter, in a mesh network with your neighbors meters? NO. The top public health officer in Santa Cruz County says smart meters do pose a health risk. The American Academy of Environmental Medicine calls for a moratorium on smart meters. The World Health Organization classified microwave radiation a carcinogen, in the same category as DDT, lead and asbestos. A dozen CA cities/counties banned smart meters. www.emfsafetynetwork.org (https://www.emfsafetynetwork.org)
