APPLE Lion 10.7.3 makes all of your old Adobe and Microsoft programs unusable. UNUSABLE.

I just got off a long phone call with apple after uploading the new operating system Lion to my year old pretty much new iMac. It has rendered all of my adobe suite programs - Photoshop, Illustrator, and so on INOPERABLE
It has rendered all of my microsoft word, power point and so forth INOPERABLE.
NO PC programs will work anymore on your apple computer after you ugrade.
I can't open a single word document - my compute is a worthless piece of junk now.

Of course the fine print says that "some programs" may be inoperable but in all my years using apple I have never experienced such negligence on such a large scale from them (apple) before. Oh my love affair with them may be ending - maybe it is because Steve Jobs is gone...would he have let this happen? I think he would not have.

MY options: Back up my computer and WIPE the hard drive and reload the old operatiing system or spend THOUSANDS of dollars on new ADOBE and Microsoft suites.
UNACCEPTABLE.
YOUR options: DO NOT "upgrade" to lion and PLEASE tell everyone you know to BEWARE of the LION.
APPLE has betrayed us all.

Yes, I discovered this also - however, if you have iWork you can open the Microsoft documents, & then re-save them as Word, ppt etc to email to someone without a Mac. Another option may be to download OpenOffice - it is free. Lion does work with the new versions of Office for Mac - it is $119 for a single Mac, $149 for 3 Macs. Find someone to split the cost 3 ways? I'd also recommend joining the local Mac user group - if you haven't already- cheap - & a great resource because you find out about these things beforehand. Go to ncmug.org & check it out!
I totally agree ---Built in obsolescence is not ok!! but I still would not trade my Mac for any PC under any circs.

Yup... Apple is a Giant corporation with a dead founder, its all about the bottom line now. I would trade a Mac for a PC any day. The Mac Pc debate is so old, but just so you know my PC will out run your Mac any day of the week. Also all creatives are not on Macs. The best of us creatives build a Super Computer out of cheap PC parts and disdain apple stickers.

That being said. I do wish I could afford an ipad.
