looking for something near REI on Santa Rosa Ave. good clean local food is good, vegetarian even better. This is for a casual lunch -- soup, salad, sandwiches, like that. thanks in advance for your help.

That's not a very economical area. You might try Aroma's or Toad In The Hole. Simply Vietnam at N. Dutton and Maxwell Court is very good and reasonably priced. They're quite busy at lunch, so there may be a short wait.
