Who said it? Van Jones -- inspirational leader, former White House green jobs czar, and head of Rebuild the Dream -- that's who: "This millionaires tax they're talkin' about? That could electrify a generation."

After years of tuition hikes, overcrowded classrooms and cuts to the bone of urgent care, your measure asks California's millionaires to pay 3-5% more in taxes to refund schools and other vital services. Our straightforward ballot initiative is taking the state by storm. I spent the weekend at the Democratic convention in San Diego meeting hundreds of people. No matter where you looked, there was a grassroots activist holding a banner, a delegate with a Millionaires Tax button, or an elected official wearing a Millionaires Tax sticker. It's the income tax ballot measure with overwhelming support in California.

After first ignoring us, the California political establishment is taking us very, very seriously:

"At this point it's possible that one measure goes forward in November, and that measure not being the governor's. I wouldn't have predicted that a couple of weeks ago." -Scott Lay/Around the Capitolą

"It looks like Gov. Jerry Brown will not get his wish, and his tax plan will not be the only one on the November ballot....Why not let the voters compare and decide?" -Willie Brown/San Francisco Chronicle˛

"Brown's got a big problem...Many educators prefer one of the competing tax measures that would raise income taxes and direct all revenue to schools." - Dan Walters/Sacramento Beeł

Even President Obama is on board with taxing millionaires. His brand new 2013 budget calls for them to pay a minimum tax rate of 30 percent. The time is now. Courage Campaign is leading a people's movement for a state that works.
