Dear Community,
I posted this once in "pets " but now think that was the wrong place as this is more "farm community." For 25 years I've been guardian for a small flock of Toulouse Geese, which are among the "threatened" farm animals in the US. This last year or two all the the goslings have grown up to be male, and one of the older females died, so the flock is seriously out of balance.

So I'm looking to make sure they all have a good Valentine's day or week or month or whenever depending on when I can bring in some additional females. Four would be amazingly good. I have put this also on Craig's list and contacted both Humane Societies (Sonoma and Marin) to no avail. So it comes down to community word of mouth. I'm not surprised this breed is scarce as there are now only two places to buy the geese in the US. It's one of the reasons I've chosen to raise them - to keep them going.

So let me know of any leads. Thanks, Bev Riverwood 707-823-0974

My friend Sierra Jorgensen breeds award-winning Toulouse. She lives in Inyo county, but she ships eggs as far as cross-country every spring with great success, and she's shipped young birds in the past as well. She also occasionally travels and takes birds to other parts of the state, so it's definitely worth it to check her birds out even though she's not in the area. I believe she has two females for sale right now, and will have eggs in the spring. Her website is here: Napoleon Waterfowl (https://www.wix.com/_ignis/waterfowl). Her e-mail is [email protected]

Best of luck!

Thanks so much for your response. Your friend lives a little far - in Bishop. She says she has given up her birds as she is getting ready to go to college. But thank you so much for the reference.

I think someone named Gus has replied, but has not left a message and I can't find him.

Also, I received a phone call from Josiah, who has geese but did not say his phone number clearly so that I could call him back. So Josiah if you are out there, please call again. 707-823-0974 or email me.

I really need these ladies to come and make peace on my little farm. I'd like to have Toulouse geese, but right now any nice goose is acceptable. Thanks. Bev R
