The subject line of this post does raise a knotty legal/political issue: Does the Defense of Marriage Act implicitly forbid corporate mergers? Granted, it's not easy to determine the sex of a corporation, but whatever sex Exxon and Mobil are, they're hardly *opposite* sexes. In any case, as in marriages between flesh & blood humans, they should have the burden of proof in the matter.
