Hey Folks,

I'm slowly revamping our "visual lexicon" aka (smilies or emoticons ). We started with enhanced set on somewhat generic insipid little yellow smilie faces :):. However, we can do better than that! :waccosun:

One of the most fundamental them, and my personal favorite is the wink! It says so much, if ambiguously.

The basic one is , which as smilie's go, is not that offensive. But I thought I'd try something less cartoony and I came up found this:

https://th43.photobucket.com/albums/e374/lorijesseman/th_wink-animation.gif

I think that's pretty cool, but it's rather large, so I made some small versions:

1) Some text:wink2:more text

2) Some text https://www.waccobb.net/forums/waccobb/images/AnimatedWink30.gifmore text

3) Some text :wink1: more text

4) some test https://www.animationplayhouse.com/blueeyes.gif some text (this could be resized and cropped - but it's too feminine for male posters)

5) some text https://www.animationplayhouse.com/blinkeye.gif some text (coud be made smaller)

6) some text https://www.animationplayhouse.com/blue_eyes.gif some text (could be smaller and slower - but I couldn't do it).

So which is your favorite? Any graphics handy people care to give me a hand and size down to about 24-30 pixels high, transparent background and coy blink rate?

And then beyond that, would anybody volunteer to be the coordinator/editor/installer of community selected images? This would be be for both emoticon and other appropriate images for our community.

I'd happy to show you how to added a correctly sized image but it would be nice if you new how to crop/resize/make transparent/a woudjust animation frame rates, etc. Generally just resizing, making transparent and uploading is sufficient.

There's no rush on this of course, but it would be nice to have some help and chip away at this.

:thankyou1:

I don't care for the full face version, but my personal favorite is #4, very sexy. I think most are kinda feminine, and it may be because many men don't wink as much as women. I don't know; I don't think I've ever seen a man wink. So, maybe we need a masculine symbol that means the same as a wink.

Thanks for making WaccoBB better with age!

Barry, I couldn't find the full library of visual lexicons yesterday or now. Just a limited selection of about a dozen. I can't just sign off Liz:waccosun: all bright and happy like, when I've just made a post about something really disturbing and I need something like this :fie:. I had to go to one of my older posts to find the 'fie' emoticon. I'm hoping you won't do away with such a wide array of ways for us to creatively express ourselves.

I do like this wink the best so far :wink1: but the wink looks a little odd. The upper eyelid needs to go down, not the lower lid up and with that angle, I'd try the other eye winking instead.

Don't you see a [More] link under the smilies to the right of the posting window?

I've been culling some seldom used images from our extensive collection, mostly alternate versions of the same emotion/subject. There's still lots to choose from!

Uhhh...a leer? An erection? A fart?

Oh dear, thanks for making me laugh out loud for a long time. I was just wondering the same myself when Shandi wondered the male equivalent of a wink. But trust me, a fart isn't it. So let's use this to fan the air...https://www.animationplayhouse.com/blue_eyes.gif

Liz:waccosun:

p.s. Barry, how about an impish tricksterish grin in the visual lexicon? I could use one right now. And a leer for the guys.

Actually, the masculine equivalent of a wink is...a wink! I've done it plenty of times.

Hurray for winking men!
