Logitech Revue- THE BEST!

Hi- We bought a Logitech Revue for Christmas and We love it sooooo much.

I wanted to share this with my Wacco friends. At Best Buy they have the Logitech Revue in the Tv department. It is a small box that you hook up to your tv and it comes with an awsome wireless keyboard. After you hook it up which takes about 5 minutes, it turns your tv into a computer. It has google tv, you can now go online and it also has 1000's of apps. We just turn on our revue and click on Netflix or Pandora or 1000's of other apps on the tv screen and you are there. It is so easy and one of the best things I have ever seen. And also you can be online and also watch tv, with picture on picture. I find this is the easiest and most inexpensive way to get a computer. Please feel free to email me if you have any questions. Broadband Internet access is required for this type of device. Generally you'll need a connection providing at least 3Mbps of speed to stream video, plus either Ethernet wiring from your router to the box, or modern 802.11g or n WiFi. Exercise caution also about total consumption - satellite Internet, cellular Internet, as well as Comcast and AT&T all have limits on total monthly use that you can encounter if you stream a lot of video.

The Logitech Revue is one of many of the new devices in this category. All of them bring some set of Internet resources to your television. Some focus on delivering a simple interface to Netflix, Pandora etc (Roku), some integrate well with your iDevices (AppleTV) and some let you store and stream media files you download (Western Digital and Boxee). The Logitech as well as the Boxee both have keyboards and can browse the web on the big TV screen.

These are a bit dated - Roku has updated since with a new version that includes casual gaming (Angry Birds!), and the Boxee has undergone many software updates (but still is an annoyingly shaped cube which makes too much fan noise.)

In our household, we've got DirecTV with all the channels - a perk of Sonic.net's dealer relationship with DirecTV (FYI, you can buy DirecTV from Sonic.net and save $10/mo, $240 over two years!), but honestly we watch it less and less. We're not sports fans, and we don't follow the popular prime time shows. Netflix, and some iTunes or Amazon rentals on the AppleTV provide us enough entertainment for the occasional stolen hour or two of TV time.
