TOPIC: North Bay Re Occupied Press

Contact Person: Linda Beyries [email protected]

Participants: Patti, CJ, Attila, Amy, Dave, Pat, Jen, Linda, Shawn and Shaun

Discussion points: Free press for 99% not just the occupy movement, even the 100%. Online edition and print edition. We have a temporary editorial board for at least 1st issue. Meeting 10 a.m. Saturdays @ Arlene Ferancis Center. Still receiving input if you can't be part of planning and editorial board. Will include photography, graphics, art and poetry and we are looking for contributors for all of these. Looking for people of color to be involved. No funding yet, but we are looking for funding sources. Need grantwriting. Launch in early spring. No vision right now for supporting /training sriters - but articles will be edited for length, content, grammar/spelling and fact checking.

Below are the desires that were expressed this evening for the paper content:
* Regular columns on the hot topics; foreclosures, corporate person-hood, etc...
* Personal stories of what folks are experiencing
* Calendar of events for all towns and what projects are being addressed in each town
* Articles on what is happening in movements around the world, ie Tunisia, Egypt...
* Reports on banks unchecked corruptions
* Real news that the mainstream media is missing
* Speaking truth to power
* Investigative Journalism
* Twitter/Facebook feeds
