Dear Thrive Network,
As we enter the New Year, we remain hopeful and inspired by the ingenious solutions that people are implementing all around the world on a daily basis.
We are also reminded of the many challenges we face and are deeply concerned about recent actions taken by the U.S. government to further consolidate control and undermine YOUR rights.
On New Years Eve - while many were out celebrating - the National Defense Authorization Act was signed into law. It is one of the most dangerous pieces of legislation under the Obama administration, allowing government to imprison anyone suspected of a "terrorism-related" offense, indefinitely and without trial. This includes you and me.
The government can now legally arrest its own citizens suspected of terrorism, which of course is open for interpretation. We can be whisked away to jail, with no right to a trial, or even killed if the government decides our actions qualify as "terrorist related" - which can be as little as dissenting government policy.
