Our Mission

KWTF Radio is dedicated to advancing local and global news, arts and culture and promoting social change by helping to inform, entertain, involve, educate and connect Northern California’s diverse multilingual communities.

Our Values

We believe that radio has the power to connect communities and promote social change. We include voices that oppose capitalism and other forms of oppression and provide a channel for individuals, groups, issues and music that have been overlooked, suppressed or under-represented by other media.

Inform. KWTF Radio is dedicated to promoting alternative viewpoints on local and global issues, and to being a source for quality reporting on the news, events and issues that affect both our local and global communities.

Entertain. KWTF Radio is dedicated to promoting the arts and supporting our artistic community, through programming and events.

Involve. KWTF Radio is dedicated to promoting locally created content. We are a community-based non-profit organization, committed to direct democracy. We seek to involve our community through listenership, programming and participation in the radio station.

Educate. KWTF Radio is dedicated to educating and empowering members of our community through promoting alternative viewpoints on local and global news, arts and culture. As a community-based radio station, we seek to empower members of our community in creating their own programming and in sharing their voices.

Connect. KWFT Radio is dedicated to connecting Northern California’s diverse communities through promoting multi-cultural, multi-lingual, multi-generational programming. In building a stronger, more connected community, we seek to promote and support social justice and social change.

KWTF Radio has kicked off an Indiegogo Start Up Campaign at https://www.indiegogo.com/KWTF-Radio. Please donate and help us spread the word by telling your friends and family! Together we can raise $10,000 for our internet station!

Our Story

KWTF Radio is Sonoma County's newest community radio station. We are happy to join the diverse group of full power, low power, and internet radio stations that already serve the people of Sonoma County. We intend to bring voices and communities to the air that are not already represented, with a focus on local news, talk, art, and culture.

The Impact

This campaign will fund the launch of our internet station. It will build a portable production studio, cover licensing costs, and fund a halftime staff position.

What We Need & What You Get

We need microphones, mixing boards, office space, computers, software, internet service, music licensing, and a staff person to coordinate production, fundraising, and outreach.

This initial campaign will get the ball rolling towards our goal of being on air at 88.1FM in western Sonoma County.

Not only will you be supporting this great project, but you'll get to pick from our cool perks: pins, mixtapes, shirts, breakfast, and more.

Other Ways You Can Help

You can make this effort successful! Invite your friends & family to this event. Share this campaign on your facebook page. Blog or tweet about KWTF. You do realize that the acronym WTF is already in use right? I think it is a great name just a surprise, actually good for radio news. Good luck.

Hey Folks!

Here's a quick update on our start up campaign (https://www.indiegogo.com/KWTF-Radio). We are just past the half way point and about 25% funded. We need your help to reach our goal. 15634

This map is a projection of KWTF's broadcast area. Our goal is to bring community voices and concerns to the air, and to help and participate in movements for social change.

Please check our website (www.kwtf.net (https://www.kwtf.net)) for more information and our full contact information.

That's good news and it sounds like you are doing what local radio should be doing -- but it is amazing that the FCC let you have those call letters!

My concern with this is the impact that wtf radio might have on the existing community radio stations in the proposed broadcast area.

I think it would have an direct adverse effect by reducing listener time and even absorb some of the donor base of this area. Radio stations that are already undergoing huge financial struggles, like KPFA and KWMR (West Marin) are already taking measures to reduce spending and are looking at a threat of possible closure(s).

I contacted the manager of KWMR who said she was not made aware of the encroachment into the KWMR airspace until my email. I wonder if these consideations are not part of the FCC application process. Maybe any WACCO radio wranglers might know.

Maybe the call letters are an acronym for oK, Where's The Funding?
