Mr. Ungar-Sargon is an independent filmmaker, for now at least. His flagship flick, Cut: Slicing Through the Myths of Circumcision (https://www.cutthefilm.com/Cut_Website/Home.html), "is a documentary film... which examines the subject of male circumcision from a religious, scientific and ethical perspective. Using cutting-edge research, in addition to interview footage of rabbis, philosophers, and scientists, Cut challenges the viewer to confront their biases by asking difficult questions about this long-standing practice." He was born in the U.S. and emigrated with his family at age 13 to Israel. He attended medical school in the U.K. but decided to pursue a creative career.

In this 2011 interview he discusses his personal path and experiences that led him to make the film. At 5:00 minutes into the interview, he describes his medical school revelations culminating in what may be the most important sentence in the interview: "It started to become apparent to me that this was a cultural practice disguised as medicine."
