Included in the current Defense Authorization Act, which has just been passed by the Senate, is an amendment authorizing US military forces to arrest and detain without trial, US citizens whom they believe are supporters of Taliban, Al Quaeda, or "associated forces." The amendment's original language exempted US citizens, but, according to Senator Carl Levin, Chairman of the Armed Services Committee, the Administration requested the exemption be removed, so US citizens would be included. See this short video on The Real News Network:

I have just sent the following email message to Senators Boxer (https://boxer.senate.gov/en/contact/policycomments.cfm) and Feinstein (https://www.feinstein.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/e-mail-me): (https://www.feinstein.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/e-mail-me%29:)
Why did you vote to approve the Defense Authorization Act? I am concerned about the amendment authorizing US military forces to arrest and detain without trial, US citizens whom they believe are supporters of Taliban, Al Quaeda, or "associated forces."
