hey supercherrypumpkin people of this gift circle list,
just read a cool book called "The Neighbourhood Project: Using
Evolution to Improve my city, one block at a time" by David Sloan Wilson
Its about a professor of evolution who sets about the interesting goal
of trying to improve the social and cooperative behavior in his town
of Binghamton using evolution science, education research, social
change studies, and systems theory.
I loved the book because it combines community organizing with an
intellectual and academic perspective that leads to some rather novel
approaches to changing a community. And it presents a way to measure
the amount of pro-social and cooperative behaviour in different
geographical areas of a town.
