Our government is bought. Elections are a farce. Our politicians spend half of their time raising money. Citizen's United is a nightmare. The solution. Getmoneyout.

If we don't get the money out we're really just treading water. Dylan Ratigan, MSNBC host, is behind it. The idea is his and one of his regular guests wrote it. Obviously it would take a lot to get a constitutional amendment passed, but it has to start somewhere. Dylan hopes it will be something candidates will have to take a stand on in 2012.

The amendment simply gets money out and lets whoever decide how the auctioning process will be replaced.

Get everyone you know to sign on to a constitutional amendment to eliminate money from Federal elections. So far, in about 2 weeks, 158,000+ signatures. The government will never do it alone. We need so many signatures that it can't be ignored.

I learned a little more about "getmoneyout.org" which is similar to and may be same in ownership as getmoneyout.com/ (https://www.getmoneyout.com/) which there is a petition, but no text or links to text of what the petition actually says. :hmmm:
But the on the Dylan Ratigan show on MSNBC the getmoneyout (https://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21134540/vp/45742653#45742653) the web page that was referred to ishttps://unitedrepublic.org/ which has a yellow MyWot (https://www.mywot.com/en/scorecard/unitedrepublic.org) on Trustworthiness, Vendor reliability, and Privacy which is not particularly good. And getmoneyout.com is private and is a little more difficult to tell and the MyWot (https://www.mywot.com/en/scorecard/unitedrepublic.com) has no hits on it yet.

The bill; Yarmuth-Jones Amendment (https://yarmuth.house.gov/uploads/Money%20Out%20of%20Politics%20CA-Yarmuth%2012.5.11.pdf) ( 12/20/11 08:52 AM PST )
is only 2 pages long and is not specific enough as to who qualifies to be a candidate and does not allocate or specify any air time so I think that could become an issue that could limit actual coverage to non incumbents or lesser known candidates that don't have any track record to identify with like incumbents do.

Because of that I think there ought to be a federal mandate for certain radio, TV and internet access to be shared equally amongst the candidates 24/7 during campaigning time and live broadcast of any candidate on any or all of those allocated TV and radio frequencies etc, and also Government Internet ports would trump any recorded messages during the last 30 days prior to the election day.

Also other fair rules to be determined for the prime-time slots as well.
And last (ish) but not least; a nationally recognized legal day or reasonable amount of time off for people to vote in person on every election day, federal or not. Otherwise Jim Crow-like laws will creep in and games will be played just to thwart some votes that may upset the status quo.
