Dear Wacco pool of intelligence,

I wonder if anyone knows about re-dyeing. i just threw some bleach into my wash thinking i had grabbed the detergent, and put spots in a GREAT pair of cocoa-colored linen pants.

Suggestions?

You've gotten me out of some jams over the years, and I've got my fingers crossed for this one.

Hi,
I would go ahead and bleach the entire pants and then choose a color and dye them. if you try to dye them now the lighter bleached areas will remain lighter than the rest of the material.
Good luck!!

Yeah, get some dye remover (which I think is a little different from bleach--not as hard on the fabric) and incorporate your bleach spots into a tie-dye or other abstract design which will preserve the nice cocoa color in a variety of various shades. That may be the best you can hope for in this situation, unless you can match the color and re-dye the whole thing.

Hi Kathy,
I've had success with a cotton dress using the following method. Since linen is a natural fabric, you should be able to use the same method. Rit has a product called No-Color. It can be used in the washing machine or on the stove and it takes out almost all the color from a garment. Once you've done that, you can re-dye the item using your favorite product. For a cocoa color, I think a mushroom dye would work best. I don't know how to make that, but imagine someone else on Wacco does. Good luck,
Nikki
