I just came back from the Rialto and must add "WATER" to the must see list. It is a gorgeous film set in India in 1938, the year Ghandi was freed from prison. The subject revolves around the widows who are cast aside by their families and destined to live lives as beggars, never to remarry. The central character is 8 years old. I guess it is/was not uncommon for girls to marry so young. A deeply moving film...
