CAP is Community Action Partnership who serves as Fair Housing of Sonoma County. They are really not highly functioning & our resources wasted w/CAP; be prepared not to have your calls returned, or emails returned. CAP has their hand in too many Sonoma County agencies - a conflict of interest. The best tenant law office in Santa Rosa is:

you can also ask the California Consumer folks to mail copies of the Landlord/Tenant rights booklet - it is a great resource!

it is important to approach the landlord/tenant situation together - to see it is as a collaboration. The tenant needs the landlord to rent a home to them. The landlord needs a tenant to assist in being able to afford their real property! When a tenant "puts the screws" to the landlord everybody ends up short of cash. When a home goes into foreclosure, really, no one can live in it then ..

Hmmm.... Clearly there is not enough knowledge about Community Action Partnership of Sonoma County (CAP). There is no conflict of interest that I am aware of and I used to work there. The agency runs essential programs for the poor and low income people of Sonoma County, i.e. Head Start, youth programs, a women's shelter and 3 transitional homes to keep people from homelessness, emergency rental assistance, and health programs. It services approximately 10,000 clients a year.

They also have had the contract to run Fair Housing for Sonoma County for many years. The hotline number is (707) 579-5033. The 544-6911 number is the main number for the central office and it is a busy line, so best not to call it for Fair Housing. Also, they are in the middle of changing out phone systems, so if there are current problems, be patient and call back. And, it Fair Housing is not intended to provide legal services.

First of all, I apologize for implying that disparaging comments were made and then personal promotion of legal services were offered. I misunderstood the person's intent.

I am an advocate of Community Action Partnership and may be seen as biased; however, I know how hard the staff work at this agency. They are very dedicated and open to feedback on customer service issues.
