Advice for 1st SSI hearing?

I will be going to court with a friend who, after a year of SSI denial will have a
hearing soon.

Although she lives in Sonoma, the hearing is in the Marin court in San Rafael,
which seems strange, but it is what it is.

I'd like to know if anyone has gone through this, and has any advice or suggestions
to enhance the chance of success.

Does your friend have an attorney? There are ones who specialize in getting SSI and really do make a difference. They know what doctors to see, etc.
