I tore down an old shed in my yard today and found a nest with 6 baby rats. I don't know what to do with them. Their mama or papa has been eating thru my irrigation system so I really don't want 6 more of them living in my yard. Any ideas? I already called Wildcare but they had nothing to offer. I live in downtown Sebastopol.
I'm afraid when it comes to rats I have to recommend the final solution. I never saw any out here until about five years ago. Some non native species invaded and it looks like their here to stay. I believe they are Norwegian Wood Rats but I'm not certain on that. They live in the wooded area's and can chew through anything. What's more their vicious and large enough that the cats won't kill them. Their a danger to children and a general enemy of Homo Sapiens. Also they can cause considerable damage to homes, chew through 3/4" in. ply and right through wiring. I've said too much already. You get the idea. Drowning is fairly humane and clean.
