I have a female racoon living under my house. I believe she's nursing so there must be little ones but I haven't seen them yet. The county animal control referred me to wildlife rescue which has an "exclusion" service. This service can get very expensive so I'm hoping my WACCO community can lead me to more options. I just want her and the babies trapped and relocated, not harmed.

Many thanks!

There's been plenty of discussion of this and related topics over the years here in Waccolandia. It's easy to search for. Here are a couple of relevant hits:

celebrating in this forum's ability (so far) of contemplative calm discussion.

another poster was requesting assistance with mother raccoon removal (i've heard marshmallows are a good bait for the live trap - that way you don't get cats).

yesterday witnessed first hand nature's way of dealing with unwanted raccoon visit: my adult semi-feral/outdoor mom-cat (now spayed :) saw the raccoon coming up the stairs to the cat-feeding station. since this mom-cat will take on full-grown labradors in defense of her young, an adult raccoon is nothing.

she latched on to the head of the raccoon inflicting a few well-placed claws and bites; so much so, i began to be afraid she could get injured in the fracas.

Thankfully, it was a brief show-of-force: raccoon begone! hoping that will dissuade raccoon from future visits.

i can only hope.
