Hi... My name is Kate Price and I am a local singer-songwriter/ hammer dulcimer player/Balkan singer. I am also the creator of the Occidental Fools Parade and the administrator for Carlisle Holland DO in Sebastopol. I have launched a Kickstarter profile to assist in the completion of my next recording The Kitchen Table Sessions. The Kitchen Table Sessions is a Canadian tribute recording that I have dreamed about doing for many years that honors the works of Joni Mitchell, Neil Young, The McGarrigle Sisters, The Cowboy Junkies, Lhasa de Sela, Bruce Cockburn and Leonard Cohen, and hopefully more.

If you don't already know about Kickstarter, it is a very cool site that connects artists like me with arts benefactors, and through the Kickstarter site, ANYONE can become an arts benefactor. The minimum pledge is only $1, and all funds are cleared through Amazon so it is totally secure. But if the artist does not reach their funding request amount, they do not get funded.

I am trying to raise enough money to complete the project. I am almost done tracking and the tracks are sounding really good! But time is running out and I only have five days to raise another $3K.

You can learn more about me at www.kateprice.com (https://www.kateprice.com) and more about the project at

If you believe in independent music and the power of community, please check out my kickstarter profile and consider becoming a contributor. Every little bit helps! And feel free to circulate this link to your friends who might be interested.

Ten thousand thanks and many blessings-
Kate Price

Kate--

The Canadian tribute is a cool idea. Don't forget Gordon Lightfoot, Ian & Sylvia, the exquisite French-Canadian band Harmonium, the uniquely wonderful Nash the Slash, the progressive rock band FM (specifically their Black Noise album), and of course the Guess Who, an underrated band in spite of having had many USAmerican hits ("American Woman", "Laughing", "No Time", "Share the Land", "Undun", "Bus Rider", etc.) and their offshoot, Bachman-Turner Overdrive ("Ain't Seen Nothin' Yet", "Takin' Care of Business"). Jonathan at Incredible Records is from Canada, and may have helpful suggestions.

Also, if you're into Balkan-related music, check out the Fishtank Ensemble, Reptile Palace Orchestra, and Beyond the Pale, if you haven't already.

Good luck with your project(s).
