Anyone noticed (or care) that this traffic report is extremely inadequate? It doesn't even the huge increase in volume of traffic along 116 and 12 - which are far above what the capacity of the highways are - according to Caltrans. There's also no mention of other development projects. It's just a partial snapshot of what's now and a glimpse of what might come.
Also, while a plan that is more pedistrian friendly than traffic flow friendly is fine for those who will come in with cookie cutter high end retail stores, there remains the reality that 12 and 116 ARE main thoroughfares... and the County is having a huge amount of development west of town. What impacts and provisions are mentioned and addressed for this increase (and continued increase) of traffic trying to get through this retail maze?
I think this plan is going to force a drastic measure. Like a bypass, which has been proposed many times before. I have a feeling this is going to do the trick. Even that proposed mine on Bay Hill (if it does get in place) will put more gravel trucks on the road through town. I live off of 12 and see a constant stream of people going to work in the morning and contractors going to work in Bodega Bay, gravel trucks coming and going all day. In just 4 years it's seems the traffic volume is much heavier.
Sebastopol why aren't you paying attention?
Are people going to live and work here or are they just going to spend their money and go home?
