I've lost my beautiful long hair calico cat. She's orange black and white and holds her tail upright. She lives in the vacinity of Kennedy and Sanders, Barnett Valley Rd. and Bloomfield. She's 3 yrs old and shy of strangers. She went missing in the storm on Saturday June 4th. If you have seen her please call 827-3236. Her name is Mattie.

MY heart is with you . I had a Calico that ran away many years back . Its brutal.
A couple of suggestions :
Post on lost and found craigslist
Add a picture to this posting and the one on CL
Hand color flyers everywhere in your neighborhood
There are pet finders website you may also look and post .
Go out to look for your cat and dusk and dawn ( this is what I was told be a recue lady)
If you are inclined contact a pet communicator
I worked with Carol Robinson in Corte Madera .
Go to the shelters and humane society with flyers and fill out anything they have for lost animals. Of course go through and look for your Mattie.
Pray Pray Pray
The visualization Carol gave me was to have a golden chord from my heart extending to my cat's.
I wish you a safe return of your baby
Oh yeah and leave like a blanket with your smells outside the house
If you want o get crazy ( I did ) the rescue people said to pee in a bottle and make a trail around my home ????

These are great suggestions, and I just want to add one more.
When stray cats are brought to shelters, they are held for a certain amount of time,
depending on the shelter, before being spayed/shots and put up for adoption.
The volunteers may have time to check the recent "lost" files, but don't have the
time to do this on a daily basis.
In other words, your cat may be brought in, and be kept in the stray unit for a few days
or a month before being euthanized or put up for adoptions, depending on various factors
and the shelter policy.
Knowing this now, if I lost my cat, I would immediately bring flyers with color picture to the
closest shelters, in addition to posting in the neighborhood. Then I'd check on a daily basis
with the shelters.
If you visit, which I recommend, I'd check all the cages, not just the strays, because your
cat can move to adoptions quickly, in some cases. You'd never know unless you see all
the cages, including the infirmary. Cats are brought in with broken legs, or sick, etc.
I've seen some beautiful, sweet cats that were obviously owned, get adopted or sit in
a cage for up to a year because their owner didn't continue to come to see if they were there,
It's heartbreaking to know that a kitty has an owner, who didn't know enough to take this step.
I used to think that the volunteers were the ones who tried to match the lost cats with
owners on an ongoing basis, but I now know that it's really up to us; they just don't have
the time with all the needs in a shelter.
The other thing I would do is dump the cat's litter box contents in various places outside
the house.
As Betina said, use the various sites online to place your lost ad with a good color picture.
I hope you are reunited with your kitty.
