Dear Wacco's, anybody out there familiar with the Diamond Heart path, the work of A.H. Almaas? Is there a community of Diamond Heart people in the area? I am interested in knowing more. Send me an email, please.

Send me an email, please.I'm a Diamond Heart dropout. It's profound work. It involves lots of weekend retreats with the whole "class", regular small group meetings and individual sessions over many years. It's a big commitment of time and money and the work can appear to be progressing slowly at times. I stopped after a couple years due because I couldn't sustain the time/money commitment. OTOH, it's the kind of work the can create very deeply rooted profound change of your being, or rather coming into profound connection with your being or True Nature. Highly recommended.

I'm sure there are more Diamond Heart students out there in greater Waccovia :waccosun:. How about sharing some of your experience with us?:meditate:

Barry,

I don't have any direct, personal experience with the Diamond Heart path. I was told about it years ago and got the same impression you did after 2 years involvement: that it was expensive, time-consuming, worth it, and involving. Recently I have come in contact with "Soul without Shame" by Byron Brown, a principal trainer for A.H. Almaas, the creator of the Diamond Heart path. The book has helped me recognize and begin to deal with my Judge, my harsh internal critic. I hoped to reach out and maybe meet some folks who've been through the training, because based on my experience, these will be the people I'd want to affiliate with, to associate with, to get to know. I'm still hoping someone with D.H. experience will respond to my request. Best, Starman

I'm in Diamond Heart 8, which started a little more than a year ago in Berkeley. There are around 160 people in the class. It is very powerful work, with bi monthly 2 day retreats in Berkeley, meeting with a private teacher once or twice a month, and a monthly small group with those living nearby. All those things said about it are true: time, money, slow (the negatives), as well as profound change and connection with your true nature (the positives).

The primary distinction that the teacher makes (Hameed Ali, or pen name A H Almass) is between our ego and our soul. Probably everybody can grok that, however to experience freedom (release from the ego) is not always easy. It's an individual approach, based on inquiring about what's going on inside you, as opposed to alot of spiritual paths with start out with teachings about the Divine, sacred realms, etc. DH starts out with what's going on in your life, your issues, your personality formed in childhood, the superego (voice of parents) which often block contact with soul. There are many aspects of new age spirituality which are expressions of the ego, rather than truth. I feel fortunate living close to the center in Berkeley, to be part of this work. There are Diamond Heart groups in the US and worldwide: LA, San Diego, Seattle, Boulder, Atlanta, DC, NYC, UK, Scandinavia, Netherlands, Europe, Italy, Australia. See below for info on a monthly Soul Without Shame book group meeting in San Rafael.
