When science and spirit merge its important to be looking at it from the right vantage.

substitute human for materials, community for glass , emotions for heated or cooled,

All materials have a property known as coefficient of thermal expansion when subjected to heat and cold. This is the rate that materials expand and contract when heated or cooled. .

If their coefficients are close enough, then they may be compatible. If their coefficients are too far apart, they will most likely be incompatible.

Normally, just tossing random materials in hot glass will cause the glass to crack when it cools.

This being so the mature life will maintain temperature so those incompatibilities will retain function at their capacity of thermal compatibility

This is called maintaining a relationship
