Stop the legislature from forcing older Californians into nursing homes!
Proposed cuts will deprive older Californians of their dignity and independence.
Your State Senator is about to vote on a state budget that, if it is not changed, will force older Californians into nursing homes. Currently, there are a set of proposals in front of the state legislature that do the following:
Eliminates Adult Day Health Care – thus forcing people into more expensive nursing homes and taking away their independence.
Eliminates another program known as MSSP – Multipurpose Senior Service Program which allows older and frail Californians to get the help they need while still living independently.
Drastically cut In Home Supportive Services which assists people with disabilities to live independently in the community.
The tragic irony is that if these budget cuts happen they will actually cost the state more money because people will be forced into hospital and nursing home care.
AARP believes that older Californians need to live in dignity while living active and independent lives in the community! The budget deficit cannot be fixed by taking away the dignity and independence of older and disabled Californians.
Please call 1-888-458-6355 and let your State Senator know that you want him/her to vote against these drastic cuts to these vital Home and Community based services.
