Here's a note from Norman Solomon about the Caucuses with some important info:
Norman Solomon
January 4, 2011
Hi,
With a busy political month underway, I hope to cross paths with you at one or more of these events in the North Bay:
* Democratic caucuses -- this weekend
Once every two years, any registered Democrat can show up at a caucus and vote for delegates to the state party's central committee -- a chance to move it in a progressive direction.
If you live in Marin County or southern Sonoma County (AD 6), I hope to see you at the caucus where I'll be on the ballot -- on Sunday, January 9 at the Marinwood Community Center, 775 Miller Creek Road in San Rafael. (From 101, go west at the Lucas Valley Road exit and turn right on Miller Creek Road.) At that caucus, the voting is between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. You can quickly vote and leave, or stay for brief speeches and a meeting.
For people who live in AD 7 (which includes most of Sonoma County), the caucus is set for 10 a.m. on Saturday, January 8 at 600 B Street in Santa Rosa.
More caucus info is posted here (https://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?llr=afb8vadab&et=1104186673587&s=2329&e=001IrnHv5g3eqprDMwSJxSAxCNeL2Iem70NCyjyypzq5IturvnvGuI4QFTSidGAZ2GK11toVhN3T8CfmjP3Zr5BZis0UCiC-98kyO9qoweMpNBNp-LFeNuZVizkReNmuDj4O35H1fv-6igSIG1W-Wu6UA==).

A summary of my January speaking schedule is posted online (https://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?llr=afb8vadab&et=1104186673587&s=2329&e=001IrnHv5g3eqpd_LTdHytMlFKIGkUWkp_G2Gn5Qq_sMjriU_iBvy8mZddM2Y8zwaSji0Cdpv85Pxzb8cFkLQigFCSHg3vS09Ubyvo4elJFwGDKjD7F17h-ZDUS98K9Io2u7Z52SkZpcVCIdsO2j4MCdt1tiMc3xmSkp96uFdXWVAyDNgWffpWE4p07ibscG8naX3uToF_sJDRm3KetkMxvBQ==). I hope you can join me at some of these events!
A couple of weeks ago, the Marin Independent Journal printed my op-ed piece "What's at Stake in Tax-Cut Deal (https://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?llr=afb8vadab&et=1104186673587&s=2329&e=001IrnHv5g3eqoAFRK6BGVI7ZjVIyowMZDGfHmXacMPfgvCFpV_ap0vMSaXaUj54frTb9m-rAetfZbu6cqg2uXRT3Uq0tp3vmUR3Qh1h7jqYSfpfC4Z-BfW1IjC6donVGOYKauC1p9-npQ=)." The article brings into focus an imminent danger -- Washington's increasingly "bipartisan" sharpening of knives to slash at Social Security.
This will be a very busy month and a challenging year -- with plenty of difficult conflicts -- but that's what "eternal vigilance" is all about.
Best wishes,
Norman
P.S. -- I've felt very encouraged by responses to recent news reports (from the Marin IJ (https://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?llr=afb8vadab&et=1104186673587&s=2329&e=001IrnHv5g3eqo0ph1VCJtKGUEzgOiLqYTexaG1eryYISm65SyTSc-XJUVXqeleKOkxco7hI6eRRO6FLu0a_9n9tG6SAuQWUPyXv9YLRTRsBTf8s1k8y-w6HIX253yIqE5RtefdcKxDYBGrExboAQ7a2QFgzMQbIsTdQKxMhzT09y8Fk3267wYaxYY8X7brqcA0l3UmOdMfL38=), from the Press Democrat (https://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?llr=afb8vadab&et=1104186673587&s=2329&e=001IrnHv5g3eqqAOjc99oEi0S5y9xBx63CUsL2t_EzkCILI1eHwmo3-_9_0t7dj1FCyddQUZE1CwU2b_hAM9ohfcjdC3ugCmz6nr9yubG5S8FfEvI3T1HcWv1b-U3sKWhWv3ZnZogoZWLitzaVGfz1ivcEGo8eYFqTdPD_9AQziz1u6XDdZ7ROZ4MyxPvP0KEwjCLBYkYd6XkRZtKgJQ1hi_A==) and on the radio (https://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?llr=afb8vadab&et=1104186673587&s=2329&e=001IrnHv5g3eqob7I-ipX6lOdlO90W8-ExxjB-La61XIZbk0CFuiz6DLZsREiVI03yLrLsO-Lq9fDtN9uXHexJSk-0SqPKVu-LcodD7kL0fcavV1lebslC6mxgeOI5JvyHvvEuGRMHAwc4=)) mentioning me as a likely contender for the North Bay congressional seat if Lynn Woolsey decides to retire. The many phone calls, emails and other expressions of support that I've received have been truly gratifying.
