My former neighbor needs help rescuing her former dog. This is the email I found in my box a while ago. Thought there might be someone around the area who could help or know of help for this dog; we have a number of loving and compassionate folks here. If you do...contact Kelly. Thanks so much.

We need to find a home for Rowan or he will be euthanized on Monday morning.

I am very depressed to report that Rowan, the "runt" of the litter, who I raised for 2 years and placed in a new home in October, bit the 12 year old girl in the new family, over a candy bar, and they are being told by the doctor or the vet it is state law he must be put down. He is scheduled to be euthanized Monday January 10th at 8:30 am in Wenatchee, WA.

He was never neutered, and has never received formal training. He is affectionate and intelligent and never threatened my children. I would take him back if I could.

The Rescue people won't place him because he bit someone, but unofficially they are telling the lady Rowan is very redeemable. If he was neutered and trained for dominance issues, several people think he'd be okay... He's a beautiful smart lovable dog. The new owner says, 90% of the time, he's completely mellow. But three times in 4 months, he has shown more and more dominance, once when he got into the garbage, and once when the 12 year old tried to put him in his crate. Finally, when he got hold of a piece of candy and the 12 year old was on her way over to deal with him, he jumped on her, pinned her down and bit her arm.

I am in a difficult spot, which is why I placed him for adoption in October, but am willing to help with transportation, and so is the new owner. Neither of us wants to see him put down. He's a beautiful dog. Our hearts are breaking and we pray for a miracle.

If you know of someone, anywhere in the USA who has experience with Irish Setters or with training dogs with dominance issues, or someone with a fenced yard and no young children who would want to adopt a purebred Irish Setter, PLEASE let me know ASAP. Also please pass this on.
Thank you so much.
