This afternoon Supervisor Efren Carrillo once again cast the swing vote to approve the toxic Dutra asphalt plant in close proximity to Shollenberger Park and the people of Petaluma.

One phase has ended, but this battle is far from over.

Many people are asking how they can support the Petaluma community in preparing their lawsuit to prevent the Dutra proposal from becoming reality. A simple, festive thing you can do is "Adopt a Wild One" at https://www.saveshollenberger.com/2010/12/adopt-wild-one.html (https://www.saveshollenberger.com/2010/12/adopt-wild-one.html).

For a donation of just $20 you can receive a stunning 8x10 photo of one of the many species that make Shollenberger Park such an amazing place to walk, bike with your kids or simply enjoy the natural surroundings. Orders received by Dec. 19 will arrive by Christmas to local addresses.

Many thanks from all of us in Petaluma to our West County allies. Your support has been amazing and means the world to us!

P.S. Please let Supervisor Carrillo know how you feel about his vote; and -- if you haven't already -- please start thinking about which real environmentalist from West County can beat him when he comes up for re-election.
