This is a wonderful and very disturbing series of documentaries which should be required watching in every school in the country. Learn exactly how the opinions and desires of the populace have been skilfully manipulated over the past hundred years or so for the benefit first of the corporations and later of the political power structure (if indeed there is a difference between the two).

The book "How To Lie With Statistics" by Darrell Huff (W.W. Norton & Co., 1954) was on a list years ago made by some UC Berkeley profs of the books they'd most like to have their entering students have read.
Probably out of print, now....
