There are some candidates and ballot measures that I feel are so important this election. Not every one of these will be on your ballot depending where you live, but feel free to share with friends. In case you are undecided, please consider these recommendations. And whatever you do, don't forget to vote on November 2.
(By the way, there are many, many ways to get involved to help these people and measures win - ask me for ideas. Walking and phoning on the last weekend is VERY helpful!)
7th Assembly district - Michael Allen. I have known Michael and worked with him for quite a while. Not only is he very smart, dedicated to our common values and highly experienced, he is a very kind man. He has experience as a nurse, attorney and district director for Pat Wiggins. He is endorsed by our friends Pat Wiggins and Noreen Evans. He is very accessible and by far the best candidate for the job. https://www.allenforassembly.com/
2nd Supervisorial District - South county - Pam Torliatt - Pam is mayor of Petaluma and has served for many years on the Petaluma council as a strong advocate for the environment. She has been on the board of the Bay Area Air Quality District and many many more. She has tons of energy and enthusiasm and will be a true spark plug on the Board of supervisors. She is endorsed by all the leading environmental and labor groups. Electing Pam is critical to getting a more progressive voice on the board. This is from her web site and says it well:
In 1992, she became the youngest appointee to the Planning Commission in the City of Petaluma’s history. Four years later, she was the youngest woman ever elected to the Petaluma City Council.
Over the next 15 years, Pamela tackled some of Sonoma County’s toughest issues, bringing innovative solutions and a collaborative approach to the complex and often contentious issues of water management, transportation and land use. And in all her time in public office, Pamela has remained true to the values she learned early on from her parents and grandparents: to put the public interest ahead of the special interests. https://www.vote4pam.net/
State Senate - Noreen Evans - Noreen is running to replace my friend Pat Wiggins in the 2nd Senate district. Noreen has been a hard worker on City Council and then Assembly and most recently chair of the Assembly budget committee. Noreen is endorsed by every environmental and labor group - and she is my friend! I am so pleased that she is following in Pat's footsteps again and will be our next senator! This is a no-brainer, but be sure to vote! https://www.noreenevans.com/
Sebastopol City Council: Michael Kyes and Sarah Gurney (you don't have to vote for three)

Palm Drive Hospital Board: most of West county can vote on this item: Nancy Dobbs, Chris Dawson, Linda Johnson
I have met them all and am convinced they have the best interests of the hospital at heart and are committed to maintaining stability and forward movement. (no more chaos)
Santa Rosa City Council: Susan Gorin, Larry Haenel, Veronica Jacobi - this is critical to maintaining the progressive forward thinking majority on this council. They stand for smart growth, supporting local business, trains and bikes and so forth. Don't let the big box backward thinkers take control!

Prop 23 - Hell no!! Dangerous proposition funded by Texas oil companies to kill our landmark climate legislation - AB 32. Please tell everyone you know about this! It would seriously damage our climate protection efforts if it passed.

Prop 26 - NO - also funded by the same oil and polluting corporations.
Prop. 25 - YES! This will take away some of the tyranny of the minority by changing the CA legislative vote requirements to a simple majority rather than a 2/3 majority for passing the budget. This will end the history of a few out-of-step conservatives holding the budget hostage.
Prop. 21 - YES - to save our state parks.
The state’s parks are in peril. Chronic underfunding is starving state parks, causing them to fallseverely behind in needed maintenance and repairs. Twice in the past two years, state parks wereon the brink of being shut down. https://www.yesforstateparks.com/
ALSO - if you have a sample ballot, please mail it TODAY. Any ballots mailed later or dropped at the polls will delay the counting and results in close races.
