All and whatever you've learned this far
goes and grows with you, shows on you.
You know this, of course; saying it only makes it solid,
adds the covers to it, and reminds you
that none or even all of it is you;
it's just your edges made sort of visible.

Don't flounder, walk on it;
spring from it as if it were a floor of springs.
Use it. You're bigger than it is.
Strong as it might be, it's not a god,
and won't make stars or miracles
except for its tiny one of never, ever leaving you.
If you get cold, burn it; or thirsty, drink it;
or ever lonely, it will hold your hand so nicely.
