Greetings, Cotati Creek Critters: it’s Earth Day this Saturday!
We’re “on” for planting this Saturday, 9 a.m. to noon at Ladybug Lot. It’s Earth Day, and if the weather goes on like this it could be a beautiful day, so it’s a great opportunity to get outside again, and to plant trees, shrubs, and also some understory plants, including native sedges, along the Laguna in Cotati.
We’ll meet at Ladybug Lot on Lakewood Avenue at 9 a.m., and refreshments will be provided. See website for directions and map.
I hope that after weeks of rain, we can swing into action again this Saturday!
Dates for your calendar:
Saturday, April 29: Rebuilding Rohnert Park-Cotati – a collaborative event: 7.30 a.m. at 49-er Pet, to register. Lunches and T-shirts provided. We’ll be working along the bike path north of E. Cotati Avenue near New Hope Church, to weed and mulch existing plantings and add a few more. Please let me know if you can join us, so that you can register in time. We’ll be joined by students from SSU’s JUMP group.
Monday, May 1: “Thinking Inside the Box” – a presentation on the fascinating life of cavity nesting birds, by Wade Belew. At Cotati Community Center, 7 p.m.
Sunday, May 7: Community Planting Day, 9-12, meet at Ladybug Lot.
Thursday, May 11: Bird nest walk along the Laguna in Cotati, with Wade Belew. Meet at the statue of Jim Boggio, the accordion player, in La Plaza Park at 6 p.m.
Saturday, May 13: Community Planting Day, 9-12, followed by BBQ – please let me know if you expect to be there so we get some idea of numbers, and also let me know if you are a carnivore (OK, omnivore!) or a veggie – thanks.
