Our Vision and Mission

The co-hosts for our 2nd Annual Peace Symposium are Unity In Marin’s Peace Action Network and Ecos groups. Our intention is to celebrate and bring awareness to the interconnectedness of all beings on the planet as the basis for peace. We envision the realization of this belief both within our community and worldwide and we invite you to join us.

The vision of the Peace Action Network (PAN), as part of the Unity In Marin Community, is to be the premier representative of a Spirit-driven peace organization whose intention is to promote, inspire, support and co-create worldwide peace through various activities and functions for all age groups.
Unity In Marin's Ecos (Ecology, Cosmology & Spirituality) Circle highlights our emergence and connection with everything on the earth and in the universe while encouraging a sustainable life with reverence for the Universe.

Workshops at the Symposium will reflect our theme of oneness with earth and spirit and will be offered by Bay Area experts in their fields. In addition there will be world music, food, a Peace and Prayer flag ceremony, Kid’s Peace Kamp for ages 5-18 and much, much more.

Please visit www.unityinmarin.org/pan/ (https://www.unityinmarin.org/pan/) for registration and info

We invite you to join us in Paying-It-Forward for Peace

UIM is engaged in an idea that is growing around the world, an experiment in generosity sometimes referred to as Paying-It-Forward. Our intention is to cause a ripple effect so big it will spread to those not even in attendance at our Peace Symposium, and so, we like to think of it as Paying-It-Forward for Peace.

Inspired by Nipun Mehta, 2009 Symposium presenter, and his Karma Kitchen in Berkeley, we decided to take a leap of faith and jump into the gift economy with our own Peace Symposium this year. When you receive your bill at Karma Kitchen restaurant it says “your meal was a gift from someone who came before you. To keep the chain of gifting alive, we invite you to pay-it-forward in any way you wish.”

The Peace Symposium Production team began with the idea of offering the lunchtime meal, along with musical accompaniment, as a gift on a pay-it-forward basis. As you might imagine our little experiment is taking on an affirming life of its own.

To date, we have received gifts in the form of volunteers and consultants from both inside and outside our community, I Am The Earth books for the children gifted directly from the authors, prosperity book donations for all volunteers, donations from various grocery markets, Smile Cards for all, Peace Pilgrim books in English and Spanish, Peace Chains from Joe Peace, a professionally baked organic cake and cupcakes for the children, organic/fair-trade coffee from Equator and more pay-it-forward gifts keep coming in…

In addition to the Symposium lunch, we are gifting the Kids Peace Kamp lunch, the “For the Next 7 Generations” film screening and, as you may have heard, the VIP reception to 100 individuals. This part of the event usually costs $100 per ticket in order to mingle with the Keynote Speaker, imbibe in delicious refreshments and partake in melodious music, but this year we want to go bigger and more generous.

We know that participants attending the symposium will receive much, much more than they could ever expect for their $55 registration fee and that is so exciting to us. What feels even more exciting is that we get to continue the chain of “paying it forward for peace” through donating profits earned after covering symposium expenses to worthy local and global charities who are of course paying-it-forward to those they serve.

Stepping out in faith means knowing that those who attend the symposium are connected to their hearts and will give from their hearts to others, in any way they feel moved. What better way to “Celebrate Oneness”.
