Hi Everybody,
There is a new Facebook worm out in the wild and it appears to be spreading fast. My account has been hit by it, because I was dumb enough to open the link that was sent via a Facebook message from a real "friend". :evg:
Since it came from a real friend via Facebook my instinct was to trust it. You'd think I'd know better! Sheesh! https://www.anchoredbygrace.com/smileys/kopfpatsch.gif
Before I tell you about it, let me say that it appears to be harmless, other than spamming your friends and perpetuating itself.
It appears as either a Facebook message from one of your "friends" or as their status update.
The title is:
im using up my fb ad credits to send u a gift so HERE =
The content is:
im using up my fb ad credits to send u a gift so HERE =
http: //apps . facebook . com/makemelaughnow/
(I've added spaces to the URL so it won't be clickable here on WaccoBB.net)
If you don't click on the link then it's completely harmless.
If you click on the link it brings up a page that looks something like this:

As far as I can tell, at that point the worm app then attaches itself to your facebook profile. It doesn't matter whether you fill out the form above or not.
Again, this appears to be more of a nuisance that something dangerous, but you are your "friends" will be better off if you don't open that link!
There's more (rather technical) information here:
